My Sister-In-Law is getting married at an ocean-side ceremony on Hilton Head Island. That’s right, it’s a destination wedding! Nothing about this wedding is going to be traditional, and with that in mind, my Sister-In-Law asked me if it was possible to create beach-themed invitations that would tell her guests all there was to know about the festivities surrounding the wedding weekend. Since this invitation needed to house all the usual information as well as additional travel info, plus info about a welcome BBQ and a farewell Brunch, we needed a design that would organize all the info in a logical and attractive fashion.
I opted for a pre-made folder shell in a beautiful sea-blue-green color. The main invite is fixed to the shell, while the three informational sheets about other activities and travel info are arranged into a tiered format and placed into the right hand pocket. There is also a response card and envelope to match the suite as well as an overall outer envelope to hold everything together. When the shell is folded, it’s held into place by a silver foil seal and a ribbon to match.
Hilton Head is known for Sand Dollars, so, the Sand Dollar became the central image of the invitation. Starfish and scallop shells add to the sea theme. The images are repeated on the response card, the outer envelope and will be used in place cards and thank you notes to coordinate. All the paper used for the invitation has a pearlescent shine and is totally reminiscent of the ocean. (perfect for a beach wedding!)
This is the first hand made invitation I’ve created. I am so happy with how it came out. They are beautiful. I would love to do another wedding invitation project! Pass my info along if you know anyone in need of beautiful custom handmade wedding invitations.
